The world's largest rotating tram car, traveling 2.5 miles up the cliffs of Chino Canyon in about 10 minutes. You start in the Sonoran Desert at 2,643 feet and arrive at the Mountain Station at 8,516 feet — a gain of nearly 6,000 feet. The car rotates slowly during the ride giving everyone 360° views. It's typically 25–30 degrees cooler at the top, so bring a layer even in April.
Book tickets in advance online. Walk-up wait times can hit 2+ hours on weekends. Trams depart at least every 30 minutes.

The Lookout Lounge — Full cocktail bar on the same level as the restaurants. Beers, wines, cocktails, and appetizers with incredible views. The obvious move after a hike. 11am - 8:30pm.
Cascade Café — Snack bar with sandwiches, pizza, coffee, and drinks. Outdoor seating on the Cascade Patio with views of the tram cars and Johnson Falls.
Also at the top: observation decks, a natural history museum, two documentary theaters, an adventure center, and a gift shop.
All trails begin by descending a paved path from the Mountain Station to Long Valley (where the ranger station, picnic tables, and restrooms are). A free wilderness permit is required for trails beyond Long Valley — pick one up at the ranger station. No dogs allowed on any trails.
Desert View Trail — 1.5 miles, moderate loop. Leads to several scenic overlooks and forest views with some short climbs. The most popular casual hike and the one to do if you have 1–2 hours. Outstanding views of the Coachella Valley.
Round Valley Trail — 2.5 miles one way, moderate. Fairly level with some short climbs, leading to a picturesque alpine meadow at 9,100 feet. Allow 2–3 hours round trip. Beautiful in spring with wildflowers and deer.
