As I look back, Aught-Ten was a watershed year for the Association: we switched to head to head play in baseball, had our first baseball playoffs, crowned a first-time baseball pennant winner and perennial cellar dweller as football champion. I believe our league is stronger for it.
The change to head to head format in baseball has breathed new life into baseball. The playoffs brought renewed interest to the tail end of the season and allowed Sharky to finally win a pennant, which he never would/could in rotisserie format. The season ended with Sharky edging Elan in the finals. I am proud that we have lowered the bar far enough so that someone other than Elan and I could share the sweet taste of imaginary baseball victory.
Although the most changes occurred in baseball, the football season may have been the most surprising. After a humdrum start, both the Coyotes (Ken) and Sonoran Suprises (Jeffy) caught fire. The Coyotes won their last seven (after starting 1-5) to make the playoffs, Jeffy took the haters division at 7-6 and Elan won the regular season and players division at 9-4. While all looked strong going into the playoffs, Jeffy played his hot hand to spank Elan 72 - 43 in the The ASS Bowl to join the Hall of Fame (Jeffy, look for your smoking jacket and exclusive party invites in the mail). GREMOBY was able to pick his ass up of the ground to secure the Shit Bowl win.
As I look forward to 2011, I see continued greatness.
I am pleased to announce that I have signed the contract for us to return to Austin for a third straight year. But this year will not be without change. Due to unfortunate scheduling (as last year), "Old Fuckers" (BJ's words not mine) have taken over the South Continental Verde Camp compound (fucking classic car show bullshit). However, after some intense negotiation, I am happy to report that we will be spending March 31st (Thursday) - April 3rd (Sunday) at the new Verde Camp "Clarksville" compound.
I hope to see you all in Austin.
Stay magnetic Juggalos,
