2001 Owners Meeting

Fellow Owners:

As we look back upon the 2000 Association of Specialty Sports baseball and football seasons, I think we can all agree that it was spectacular indeed. From Mike Comb's bathroom escapade at Casear's during the Owner's Meeting to Mark Spencer's outlasting Mark Comb's August charge for the baseball pennant to newcomber Elan Lipschitz' storm to the ASS Bowl II crown, the A.S.S. season lived up to everything I envisioned when I first formed this league two years ago.

However, the season would not have been so memorable without the addition of our two expansion teams: Matt "Sharky" Combs (Tucson, AZ) and Elan "Beltboy" Lipschitz (Midland, MI). Their play certainly elevated the entertainment level for everyone. Building on that success, I am pleased to introduce our 2001 expansion franchise owner, Freddie Williams from Omaha, Nebraska. Freddie is fellow Central HS alumnae as well as participant in Kelly's bachelor party. His addition to the league now makes us an even 10 teams. Please welcome Freddie to the league.

Enough with the sentimental look back at last year. IT'S TIME FOR THE 2001 OWNERS MEETING.

This year's owner's meeting will be held in sunny San Diego, California on March 30th through April 1st. We are tentatively planning on staying at the Marriott Marina in downtown SD, just a few scant miles from the airport (SAN) and the Mexican border. Although we are still working logistics, it is hopeful that we will get to spend Saturday night somewhere outside U.S. borders.

For those of you planning flights, please try to arrive in San Diego before 5:00 P.M. on Friday and leave no earlier than 2 P.M. on Sunday. I realize the Sunday departure may be a stretch but it would really help the logistics. I'll will be arriving on Thursday and returning home Monday morning if anyone else wants to make a 4 day weekend on it.

Here in the next few days, I will be putting the final touches on our 2001 website, where there will be far more details on the event. Look for the site sometime next week.
